In 2026, I’m closing the chapter on more than four decades of unforgettable experiences working in corporate America. I retired as the boss and have had various boss titles along the way – but being boss was more about taking care of the wonderful people on my teams that made the job enjoyable. When my husband came across a photo of me at around six years old, he laughed and said I was clearly “Born a Boss.” Decades later, he maintains that I’m “Still the Boss,” and that became the inspiration for the name of this website. Thank you for the title, honey—I wear it proudly.
We are embracing a new freedom as we step into this next adventure some call retirement. (Although I heard it called “Preferment” which means we get to pursue more of what we “prefer”. ) We are doing just that – focusing on the things we prefer. We are excited for more time and travels together, greater opportunities to serve at our church, more meaningful time with family and friends, and a chance to rediscover old hobbies and explore new interests- including launching this very page.
One of the first projects featured here is the sharing of pieces of my family’s history. Over the years, I have become the caretaker of a collection of family treasures—photographs, home movies, documents, scrapbooks, and other memorabilia that my mother preserved and eventually passed on to my sister and me.
As I began sorting through these boxes, I found myself fascinated by the stories, memories, and unexpected discoveries they contained. I suspect many family members would be just as interested—and perhaps just as surprised—as I was to see what my mother chose to save through the years. These discoveries inspired me to find a way to preserve and share these treasures with others in the family who may enjoy exploring our shared history.
